DJ DOG is the guest of the Watson family that never left. Although he is flat broke, DJ still attempts to maintain a semblance of his lifestyle when he was a multimillionaire rapper. The fact that he now lives in a house in the middle of suburbia runs counter to his efforts. The "Terrier Terror" has a short-temper, rivaled only by Leslie Watson.

MYA WATSON is the precocious daughter of Thurgood and Leslie. She is a business woman who will turn even a simple school candy sale into a limited liability company with a non-profit arm to avoid taxes. As the oldest, she tends to command her brother into assisting with one of her schemes, but is not above manipulating her parents or DJ Dog.

MALIK WATSON is the rambunctious young son of Thurgood and Leslie. The baby of the family, Malik is spoiled rotten, a fact not unnoticed by his sister. Much to his father's consternation, he does not immediately gravitate to the cars and sports that are typical symbols of boyhood. With a best friend who is a pitbull terrier with criminal tendencies, he can't help but find himself in trouble.

LESLIE WATSON is a very good schoolteacher whose own children leave her baffled. The outspoken Leslie never wastes a chance to tell anyone how hard she had it growing up in a poor neighborhood, and constantly urges everyone in the family to seek employment. She sees DJ Dog as a bad influence on her family. Although she claims to resent having to be the main disciplinarian in the family, her children would argue otherwise.

THURGOOD WATSON is a neurotic attorney and father of the Watson clan. His middle class suburban background has left him naïve, idealistic, and a bit of a snob. These qualities often frustrate his wife, who was raised in a far more impoverished setting. Desiring to be a nice guy, he leaves the "bad cop" role in raising his children to his wife.
